Hello! Thank you for visiting my web site.
I  grew up at Buckroe Beach in Hampton Virginia. I spent most of my Summers
sun burnt and salty. As a child if you had a truck inner tube and a quarter for the juke box
then a joy filled day was in order. I saved my allowance for new sketch paper and
#1 pencils and spent most evenings drawing, reading, and writing.

My first love in art was the portrait , I remember many hours sketching the Babies
on the Northern Bathroom tissue packaging. My first (and thus far ,only) lap top was the
eth-a-sketch which I somehow became adapt at and marveled my childhood friends with!
The grey matter in the eth-a-sketch ,back then ,was mercury.
(I guess there are some things about the 'by gone days' that can  remain by gone!)

I work in all mediums and enjoy them all in different spouts. Right now I am having fun with
the good old pencil (graphite) grey and in color. My favorite pencils are
Prismacolor. I use the grisaille method of drawing to achieve a rich realistic look
and I am currently experimenting with linen weave paper which gives
a more textured look.

I also love the water mediums of
water color and acrylic.  I first started in Acrylics and water color in the early seventies.
I have  never been without a camera. My first camera was
the 'brownie' and then the Polaroid 'Swinger' which took great B&W. I now use digital
and love having creative control over my photography!

After moving back to the mountains five years ago, the old 'Hometown sites' just beckoned
to be painted. It's nice to see the old movie house, and neighborhood drug stores still
in business. It reminds us that the "good old days' are happening right now for our children.
We have a responsibility to help insure that their memories are good ones..

Since coming to Wytheville and discovering that there are no art teachers in K-8th it seemed
only natural to share my love of art with the children. You can see some of the children's work
on the Art Reach page. God bless their creative spirit !

If you ever venture into e-bay, please look for my work in the 'self-representing artists'
I am presently auctioning my pet and people portraits there. You can find me by entering
"AquaArtist" in the seller search.
